Your students will begin their UnderWater World Adventure by attending
a 30 minute presentation. You may choose
from one of the below listed subjects. Contact the Education Coordinator
for special requests.
At
the conclusion of the presentation, your students will be given a
brief orientation, broken up into groups of approximately 20 and then
conducted on their tour by a personal guide. Our staff enjoys teaching
the students about our residents and we encourage questions!
The
first stop is the Rainforest where your students will get a close-up
view of fresh-water turtles and 'Harry', our coconut crab! From here
enter the 300 foot long tunnel where we are surrounded by thousands
of sea creatures, including zebra sharks and giant groupers!
Upon
exiting the tunnel, students will get a close encounter with our moray eel condo, home to mearly a dozen assorted moray eels!
Once
on the second floor, students will see some truly amazing animals
and learn fascinating facts about all of them! Our residents include
giant spider crabs, lionfish, and sea horses!
After
exploring the second floor gallery, students will have the opportunity
to peek behind the scene and examine how the husbandry staff takes
care of our marine residents! (fifth grade and above only)
The
Touchpool is next and is a favorite of students. Here you will have
the opportunity to touch live animals and take a closer look at several
others! We have one shark living in our touchpool, as well as
our blue spotted stingrays. Students will also be able to touch sea
stars, hermit crabs and much more!
After the touchpool visit our Flash Fish Foto Station where you will have the opportunity to take home the UnderWater World experience with your group photo for our special fieldtrip price of oly $5.95!
The
conclusion of your UnderWater World adventure is a stop by our retail
store. Here you will have the opportunity to handle the merchandise
and spend some time looking over the many fun artifacts.
You
can expect your entire adventure to last about 1 ½ hours for
first graders and above. Kindergarten and below is scheduled to last
approximately one hour.
